Lakewood Ranch Man In Critical After Being Hit By Car
LAKEWOOD RANCH - Florida Highway Patrol announced one person is in critical condition after they were struck by a vehicle in Lakewood Ranch Saturday Morning.
The pedestrian accident took place as an 80 year old man from Lakewood Ranch was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle on Eagles Watch Way stopped at the intersection with The Masters Avenue.
At the same time a 78 year old man from Lakewood Ranch was walking across Eagles Watch Way heading toward the eastern side of the road.
At 9:10:00 AM as the pedestrian walked in front of the SUV, the driver did not see the man approaching and proceeded into the intersection colliding with the pedestrian.
After being hit by the SUV, the man came to a stop in the west travel lane of the Masters Avenue. Emergency services transported the man to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he is listed as critical condition.
FHP has stated the accident remains under investigation.
